know the tips and save like a SAVAGE!

Tip #1

21 Savage

  • OPEN YOUR FIRST BANK ACCOUNT
Opening your first bank account? Look into your local Credit unions. Credit unions usually have no minimums and help protect you from fees!

Tip #2

21 Savage

  • KNOW THE TYPE OF BANK ACCOUNT
Some types of bank accounts will have a limit to how many times you can move money between accounts before hitting you with a fine. Some banks require a minimum balance in your savings before they charge you!

Tip #3

21 Savage

  • SPEND WHAT YOU CAN PAY
Balling out on your credit card when you don’t have the funds to pay it back is a trap. Only spend what you can pay. Save some of each paycheck into your savings account. It adds up!

Tip #4

21 Savage

  • DIRECT DEPOSIT
Split direct deposit can help you automatically deposit money into both your savings account and your checking account.

TIP #5

21 SAVAGE

  • LOOSE CHANGE.. ADDS UP
Do you have a piggy bank? Saving loose change in a jar and cashing it in at the end of the year is a great gift to yourself.

TIP #6

21 SAVAGE

  • YOU ARE IN CONTROL
Learn self control. Just because you have the funds to buy something doesn’t mean you can afford to buy it.

Tip #7

21 Savage

  • DON'T BE IMPULSIVE
Avoid impulse buys. If there is something you really want, try waiting a week. If you still “need” to have it, treat yo-self while staying within your means. Wait until you have your funds together to buy things instead of charging your card. It’s easy to buy things online and charge your credit card, but is that purchase worth the debt and interest you will incur later?

Tip #8

21 Savage

  • DON'T STUNT ON THE 'GRAM'
While building your social media presence, don’t get caught up trying to be someone you’re not - spend based on your means versus trying to stunt on the gram.

Tip #9

21 Savage

  • CREATE MONEY GOALS
What are you money goals? Create a financial vision board or write down your financial goals!

Tip #10

21 savage

  • SPEND ONLY SO MUCH
Create a budget! Allow yourself to only spend X amount a week.

Tip #11

21 Savage

  • GET & STAY ORGANIZED
1Stay organized by keeping track of your upcoming bills. Practice using a calendar or tracker to set yourself up for success because paying your bills late can immediately hurt your credit score. There are dozens of apps they can use to help get their net worth.

Tip #12

21 Savage

  • WHAT IS YOUR NET WORTH?
Do you know what your net worth is? Subtract all your debts (student loan, car, credit card) from how much you have in your checking and savings.

Tip #13

21 Savage

  • BUILD A BUDGET
Get used to building & updating your budget. Financial apps are there to help you stay organized, but diligence will help you stay financially healthy.

Tip #14

21 Savage

  • SET ASIDE SOME CASH
Heavy spender?! Take out a set amount of cash that you can spend and leave that credit/debit card safely tucked away somewhere you won’t forget.

Tip #15

21 Savage

  • MAKE A MONEY PLAN
Make a plan for your future and break it down into action steps. Set achievable goals so you can celebrate along the way.

Tip #16

21 Savage

  • NEED MONEY FOR COLLEGE...
Need money for college? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available to anyone and everyone! Go to FAFSA.org for more information.

21 Savage

  • SAVE, SAVE, SAVE!
Look out for your future self by saving every bit you can. It’s never too early to start saving.

Tip #18

21 Savage

  • STUDENT DISCOUNTS
Have you heard of student discounts? Don’t be afraid to ask if there’s a student discount at restaurants and other places you go to. Savings add up!

Tip #19

21 Savage
